Feb 1992 - View from cockpit showing floor under carpet with small wood bilge pump cover
....now that's really exciting !?!

Feb(23rd) 1992 - The original interior of the boat being inspected by my cat.

Feb 1992 - Stern Port side mooring cleat and redundant deck hole.
The deck hole had a proper cover, it was removed before I took this photo.
Note the poor state of the deck paint

May 1993 - The engine compartment. The engine was out being serviced & cleaned at this point.
Previously there was nothing between the engine and the inside except the rather insufficient bulkhead midships.
I enclosed and sealed the compartment with aluminium panels the covered with specially designed sound insulation material, designed for such installations on the sides and top (top after this picture was taken).
The compartment still had adequate ventilation through it's pre-existing port & starboard vents. All this reduced the engine noise throughout the boat and eliminated any risk of escaping fumes getting into the boat.
Sorry the picture is in black & white, I was feeling a bit "off colour" :)

August 1993 - The original helm. This shows my some-what unusual framework.
I used a galvanised steel frame because I thought it would be the strongest and easiest material for me to work with. You might argue that it would be too heavy, but far from it - when completed I tested it and found that Discovery can tip to over 45degrees from vertical and still easily right herself.
You'll also see the custom cut hardwood beam across in front of the helm position, this is ready for the new cockpit windows.

July 1996 - Finished at last! This is after many months of "testing"
.. although you know nothing is ever "finished"
